For direct bookings, a deposit may be requested during peak season (July–September and December–January) to secure your dates. For short stays of 1–2 nights, full payment is often collected on arrival. We will confirm the deposit requirement when you contact us.
Yes — groups of 4 or more rooms qualify for negotiated rates. We also have tailored packages for corporate retreats, conference delegations, and NGO teams. Please contact us directly to discuss your needs and we will provide a custom quote.
We accept USD and Tanzanian Shilling (TZS) in cash. We also accept M-Pesa and bank transfers. Some card payments may be processed — please confirm at the time of booking. For third-party bookings, payment is handled by the respective platform.
Yes, subject to availability. WhatsApp us before arriving to confirm we have a room ready. Walk-in guests are welcome but we cannot guarantee availability during peak seasons without prior contact.
Check-In & Check-Out
Check-in: from 12:00 noon. Check-out: by 10:00 AM. If you arrive early or need to leave late, contact us in advance — we do our best to accommodate early arrivals and late check-outs subject to availability (a small fee may apply for guaranteed late check-out).
All guests must present a valid passport or national ID upon check-in. This is a requirement under Tanzanian law for all accommodation providers. Copies will be recorded for our guest register. Your information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Absolutely. We offer complimentary luggage storage for guests who arrive before their room is ready or need to store bags after check-out. Your belongings will be kept securely until you need them.
A refundable security deposit may be collected at check-in for some room types. It is returned at check-out following a satisfactory room inspection. The amount, if applicable, will be communicated at booking confirmation.
Rooms & Amenities
We offer five room types: Standard Single (from $20/night), Standard Double (from $28/night), Standard Twin (from $32/night), Deluxe Double (from $45/night), and a Family Suite (from $60/night). All rates include complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi. See our Rooms page for full details.
Yes — complimentary breakfast is included in all room rates. Breakfast is served daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and features a mix of continental and local Tanzanian options, including fresh bread, eggs, fruit, Tanzanian coffee, and tea.
Yes — we provide free fibre-optic Wi-Fi throughout all rooms and common areas. It is sufficient for video calls, remote work, and streaming. Password is provided at check-in. If you experience any connectivity issues, our team will address them immediately.
Most of our rooms are equipped with air conditioning. Arusha's climate is generally mild and temperate (altitude ~1,400 m above sea level), making evenings naturally cool. Please confirm air conditioning availability for your specific room when booking.
Yes — please inform us of any dietary requirements, allergies, or preferences at the time of booking. Our kitchen will do its best to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, halal, and allergy-specific needs with advance notice.
Yes — our on-site restaurant serves African, international, and BBQ grill menus for lunch and dinner. Our bar is open in the evenings. The dining area overlooks our lush garden — a wonderful setting for an evening meal after a day's adventure.
Location & Getting Here
We are located at Plot No. 25, Sombetini, Arusha, Tanzania — near the Uhuru Monument. Sombetini is a calm, green residential neighbourhood approximately 3.5 km from Arusha City Centre. See our Contact page for a live map and directions.
Arusha Airport (ARK): approximately 3.7 miles (6 km) — about 15 minutes by road. Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO): approximately 70 km — about 1 hour by car depending on traffic. We arrange transfers to and from both airports.
Yes — we offer airport transfer services to and from both Arusha Airport and Kilimanjaro International Airport. Please book your transfer at least 12 hours in advance by contacting us via WhatsApp or email. Rates vary by distance and vehicle type.
Yes — daladala (minibus) routes run through Sombetini and connect to the Arusha town centre. Taxis and boda-boda (motorcycle taxis) are also readily available. We are happy to advise on the most convenient route from your arrival point.
Yes — we have free on-site parking within our secured, gated compound. 24-hour security personnel are present. Guests with vehicles can park safely for the duration of their stay.
Safaris, Climbs & Tours
Yes — our front desk team works with trusted local safari operators and can help arrange day trips and multi-day safaris to Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and more. We recommend discussing your itinerary before or at check-in so we can prepare options.
Absolutely. Kiteme is an excellent pre- and post-climb base. We can connect you with certified and reputable climbing operators for Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. We also cater to climbers' pre-trek nutrition and gear storage needs.
We work with several vetted local operators but we are not exclusive to any single company. Our team will match you with operators suited to your budget, group size, and preferred destinations. We do not charge a commission that inflates your tour cost.
Yes — many guests leave the bulk of their luggage with us while they go on safari with just a small bag. We provide secure luggage storage at no additional charge for guests with an active reservation. Contact us to arrange.
Policies & General
For direct bookings: cancellations 48+ hours before check-in receive a full refund or free reschedule. Cancellations within 24–48 hours incur a 50% first-night charge. No-shows forfeit the first night. Third-party bookings follow the platform's own policy. Full details in our Terms & Conditions.
Absolutely — families are very welcome at Kiteme! Children under 5 stay free when sharing a room with parents. Children aged 6–12 may be charged a reduced supplement. Our Family Suite is ideal for families of up to 4. Please mention the ages of children at booking so we can prepare accordingly.
We are not currently a pet-friendly property. However, we understand that some guests travel with service animals — please contact us directly to discuss your specific situation and we will do our best to accommodate.
Safety is a priority. Kiteme has a fully gated and walled compound with trained security guards on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. CCTV covers the premises and all entry points are controlled. Guests regularly comment on how secure they feel — particularly solo female travellers.
Yes — we have a backup power generator that activates during outages to ensure lighting, fans/AC, Wi-Fi, and hot water remain available throughout your stay.
Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. We ask all guests to be considerate of neighbours and fellow guests during these hours. Events, gatherings, or amplified music outside of these hours require prior arrangement with management.
